Aliaksándr Hardzéi, rus. Алексáндр Гордéй, bel. Аляксáндр Гардзéй, chin. 郭德, pinyin Guō Dé, pall. Гō Дэ́ (born 1965), Doctor of Philology (1999), Professor (2005), Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of the Chinese Language of Minsk State Linguistic University, Head Scientist of System Analysis and Strategic Research Center of Belarus National Academy of Sciences, Professor of Oriental Language & Country Studies’ Department of Belarusian State University, an expert in the fields of formal semantics, computer science, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, Chinese language and Oriental studies, an author of 77 scientific publications in Russian, English and Chinese in the fields, a founder of the Belarusian Association of Orientalists “Taigen” (1995), the Oriental Language & Country Studies’ Department (1996) and the Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology (2006), a member of the Council for Oriental & African Studies of Moscow State University (2007) and the foreign member of the Board of the All-China Fund for the Development of Education of the PRC (2016). In 1998 “Foundations of the Theory for Automatic Generation of Knowledge Architecture (TAPAZ-1)” were represented in the monograph “The Principles for Semantics Calculus of Subject Domains”. In 1999 the monograph was defended as the doctoral dissertation under the supervision of the Honored Scientist of Republic of Belarus Prof. V.V. Martynov in the Research Center “Semantics” of Minsk State Linguistic University. TAPAZ-2 (2017) is an evolution of TAPAZ-1 with the essential improvement in the theory and implementation.

Education:

1972-1982 – studied in School №36, Gomel (Homiel), graduated with honors;

1982-1987 – studied at the Faculty of Oriental Languages (Department of Sinology) at Military Institute of the USSR Ministry of Defense (Moscow), specialized in foreign languages (Chinese, English), graduated with a qualification “Translator-interpreter of the Chinese and English languages”;

1989-1992 – obtained full-time post-graduate education at the Department of Slavic and General Linguistics at the Linguistics Institute of the Byelorussian Academy of Sciences, specialty 10.02.19 – Theory of Language, October 15, 1992 on the basis of public protection at Byelorussian State University was awarded with the scientific degree of PhD in Philology (“The Candidate of Philological Sciences”) by USSR and then Belarusian Higher Attestation Commission;

1995-1998 – post doctorate research at the Department of General Linguistics at Minsk State Linguistic University, specialty 10.02.19 – Theory of Language, October 17, 1999 on the basis of public protection at Moscow Military University (Russian Federation) was awarded with the scientific degree of Post PhD in Philology (“The Doctor of Philological Sciences”) by Russian State Attestation Commission; June 14, 2000 Belarusian Higher Attestation Commission confirmed Post PhD degree;

July-August 1999 – qualification upgrading course at Beijing Language and Culture University (PRC), specializing in methods of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and Chinese culture;

February-July 2001 – Research at the Beijing Language and Culture University (PRC) with the scien- tific advice of Professor Cui Xiliang (崔希亮);

February – March 2004 qualification upgrading course for the diplomatic corps at China Foreign Affairs University (Beijing, PRC);

July-August 2007 – qualification upgrading course for university executives at Heilongjiang Univer-sity of China (Harbin, PRC);

November 2010 – qualification upgrading course at Nankai University (Tianjin, PRC) for professional teachers of the Chinese language;

July 2015 – Hanban advanced training courses for foreign directors of Confucius Institutes at Xiamen University (Xiamen, PRC);

October 2016 – Hanban advanced training courses for foreign directors of Confucius Institutes at Xiamen University (Xiamen, PRC);

November – December 2016 – qualification upgrading course at Chinese First University of Foreign Languages, specializing in Chinese-English interpretation.

Fluent in Chinese and English.

Public work:

Since 1995 – Chairman of the Belarusian Association of Orientalists “Taigen”;

Since 2000 – member of the Education and Methodics Association for Linguocultural Studies at the Faculty of International Relations, Belarusian State University (BSU);

Since 2001 – member of the Dissertation Council D 02/01/24 for defense of a theses for a Post PhD degree in Philology at BSU;

2003-2007 – Director of the National Center of Chinese Studies “Hieroglyph” at BSU on a voluntary basis;

Since 2004 – member of the Consultative Board of Experts in foreign policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus;

Since 2007 – member of the Council on Asian, African and Regional Studies at the Education and Methodics Association for Classical University Education of the Russian Federation at the Institute of Asia and Africa at Moscow State University;

2011-2014 – member of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation;

Since 2016 – Foreign member of the Board of the All-China Fund for the Development of Education (PRC).

1989-1992 – full-time post-graduate student at the Institute of Linguistics of the BSSR Academy of Sciences;

1992-1993 – researcher at the Research Centre “Semantics” at Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages;

1993-1994 – Senior teacher of Chinese language at Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages;

1994-1995 – Associate Professor at Minsk State Linguistic University;

1995-1998 – post doctoral student at Minsk State Linguistic University;

1998-1999 – Associate Professor at the Faculty of International Relations, BSU;

February – June 1999 – Visiting Professor, Department of Artificial Engineering, Belarus State Univer–sity of Radio Engineering, Minsk, Belarus;

1999-2011 – Head of the Department of Oriental Languages at the Faculty of International Relations, BSU; since 2011 – Head of the Department of Oriental Language & Country Studies at the Faculty of International Relations, BSU on a voluntary basis;
